In my fountain pen reviews I try to provide as much detail as I can to help you to decide which pen is right for you.
I love drawing with fountain pens. They differ so much between manufacturers, materials, and even nib styles.
As well as well known brands such as Lamy, Pilot, and Rotring, I will also be looking at much cheaper, lesser known brands. This includes many of the extremely cheap ‘school’ pens you can buy for next to nothing as well as the surprising range of pens that are available from China.
I cover each pen in detail, talking about what materials they’re made of, the quality of the construction, the nibs themselves, and finally the experience of drawing with them.
Each post will include sample drawings created with the pen being reviewed. Some might have just one doodle but others might have multiple doodles (especially if I really enjoy using the pen).
If you’d rather watch fountain pen reviews as videos, you might want to take a look at my YouTube channel. You can watch me draw the sample sketches with the pens as part of the reviews, in addition to seeing the pens from all angles.
Your feedback is really important to me.
If you enjoy a review, I’d really appreciate it if you left me a comment at the bottom.
If you have any suggestions (or even constructive criticism) about how I could improve the review or what pens you’d like me to review, I’d appreciate those too. :)

It might look cool with its vibrant colours and interesting design but is the Kaco Retro a fantastic tool for doodling? Is it just a scratchy mess of a pen? Read on to find out.
I’ve reviewed the Muji aluminium fountain from the perspective of a pen and ink artist. Is it a joy to use or is it a scratchy mess? Read this to find out!
The Ohto Tasche fountain pen is remarkably small when capped, barely the length of my index finger. Once posted, the pen becomes the size of […] Read More
This is a review of the Platinum Carbon Desk Pen. I will be focusing on the pen’s suitability for doodling, sketching and drawing rather than writing as that’s the whole point of this site! :).
The Lamy Safari is a fountain pen intended for general use as a writing implement. I’m not sure if Lamy ever imagined when they created it, how popular it would become in sketching communities. In this review I’m going to take a detailed look at the Lamy Safari, evaluate its strengths and weaknesses and assess its value as a doodling and sketching tool.
The Rotring Art Pen is, to all intents and purposes, a fountain pen that’s intended for drawing and sketching. Let’s take a look at the Art Pen and see how useful as an artistic tool.
